Description
Vineyard selection: Selected parcels from Pyrgos, Episkopi and Megalochori
Vine age: 180–200 yearsold,ungrafted.
Vintage description: A cold winter with a rare snowfall and 320 mm of rainfall created a good water capacity. The spring was short, the summer mild and coupled with strong winds, the vine temperature was kept at relatively low levels. Maturity came late, preserving excellent acidity. As a result, harvest began on the 16th of August, with good fruit quality and an average yield of 17,5hl/ha. The intense rain on the 24th of August did not create any problems, being rather a pause for our more voluptuous vineyards that are picked at the end of the harvest season.
Harvest: 3rd decade of August
Yield: 17 hl/ha
Vinification
Fermentation: In French oak, with 64% in 500lt barrels, 25% in barriques and the balance in an oval 12hl vat, at ambient temperatures, lasting almost three weeks, partially uninoculated.
Maturation: Twelve months in French oak barrels and twelve additional monthsin stainless steel vats, on fine leesand occasional batonnage throughout.
