Estate Argyros Mavrotragano 2021

Reborn just over a decade ago, Mavrotragano is one of Santorini’s most intriguing and rare red wines, and this expression from Estate Argyros captures its character with depth and precision. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour, hinting at its concentration and intensity.

The nose is rich and complex, revealing layers of dark forest fruits, black cherries, and subtle spice, complemented by beautifully integrated oak. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied, yet remarkably balanced, combining structure and finesse with polished tannins and impressive depth. Aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, it finishes long and elegant, with excellent ageing potential.

A superb partner to game, red meats, and richly spiced dishes, this wine is best enjoyed at 16–18 °C. Built for the cellar, it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 12–14 years.
