Schlumberger, Gewurztraminer, “Les Princes Abbés”

Brilliant light golden-yellow with fresh green reflections, this Gewürztraminer is youthful, clear, and vibrant in the glass. The nose is expressive and complex, revealing aromas of crystallised fruit, exotic mango, and floral notes of violet and geranium, lifted by distinctive spicy tones of Sichuan pepper. With aeration, subtle vegetal nuances emerge, alongside hints of peppermint and chlorophyll, highlighting the excellent ripeness and purity of the grapes.

On the palate, the wine opens with a moderately ample, smooth texture, supported by a full-bodied alcohol presence. It develops with lively energy and a subtle sparkling sensation, echoing the aromatic profile of the nose. Flavours of exotic fruits such as banana and mango mingle with ginger, Sichuan pepper, and floral notes of peony, finishing with a delicate varietal bitterness. The finish is long and persistent (8–9 caudalies), marked by freshness, balance, and aromatic intensity.

Powerful yet refined, this Gewürztraminer preserves the delicacy and brightness of the variety. It pairs beautifully with spicy cuisine such as langoustine stew with turmeric, shrimp spring rolls with ginger, scampi sushi with wasabi, or closer to home with traditional Munster cheese. Best served at 12 °C.
